JDO Transforms Lakmé into the Fashion-Forward 'House of Lakmé'

Lakmé, India’s revered pioneer in beauty and cosmetics since 1952, unveils a bold new chapter in its storied legacy with the launch of the House of Lakmé.

This transformative rebranding effort, spearheaded by international design agency JDO, marks a significant milestone in Lakmé’s journey towards redefining beauty and fashion in India and beyond. 

From its inception, Lakmé has been synonymous with timeless elegance and uncompromising quality, meticulously catering to the diverse needs of Indian women with a wide range of colour cosmetics and skincare products. Beyond its product offerings, Lakmé has left an indelible mark on the Indian beauty landscape, notably through its groundbreaking initiative, Lakmé Fashion Week, which has showcased cutting-edge trends and celebrated local creativity for over two decades.


Recognising the need to invigorate its image and capture the essence of 'Fashion Drama', Lakmé partnered with JDO to undertake a comprehensive restaging initiative. This ambitious endeavour encompassed a complete overhaul of Lakmé’s visual identity and product packaging as well as a rebrand of Lakmé Fashion Week. 

Drawing inspiration from haute couture and luxury fashion, the new identity exudes bold iconicity with a wordmark adorned in gold metallic against a refined black backdrop, epitomizing the essence of ultimate fashion drama. Packaging uses colour and elaborate finishes to redefine each tier, uniting the portfolio whilst delivering a captivating brand experience.


 At Lakmé Fashion Week, glamour and sophistication reach their peak with a high-shine gold logo set against a matte gold background, designed to shimmer under the bright runway lights. A monogram of the logo was also crafted for use as an effective repeat pattern on printed materials or backdrops, enhancing its presence in the high-fashion milieu.
