JDO Shapes Bold New Identity for The Arts & Culture Podcast

A shift is happening in the world of arts and culture. Once confined to gallery walls and glossy print magazines, the conversation has moved to be more accessible, more intersectional, more digital. In other words, more podcasts.

Hosted and created by Tom Dawson, COO of the Association for Cultural Enterprises and supported by King & McGaw, The Arts and Culture Podcast cuts through the noise with sharp takes and big-name guests from across museums, heritage and beyond. To fuel its ambitions to grow and expand into TikTok and live events, the show enlisted us to design a bold, future-ready identity.

“Arts & Culture is about uncovering best practice and excellence behind the scenes at the UK’s cultural institutions,” says Dawson. “Our content has always been strong, but visually we didn’t match. We needed an identity that could scale with us, stand out in a crowded space, and reflect the quality of our conversations.”

The new look delivers just that. From logo and icon to a full typographic system, the identity is grounded in the bold simplicity of modern art and the graphic clarity of cultural ephemera. It works dynamically in small spaces like Spotify tiles, Instagram feeds, TikTok clips while also being able to flex effortlessly across new formats as the show expands.

“The name Arts & Culture Podcast is deliberately broad, which makes standing out a real challenge,” comments Emily Fox, Creative Director. “The new identity is bold, abstract and adaptable, giving the podcast distinction that is culturally credible. Too often arts brands play it safe and undersell themselves. This design system does the opposite: it signals ambition, quality and intent, while giving Tom the freedom to experiment, expand and still keep everything cohesive.”

The results speak for themselves: “The podcast finally has an identity that does justice to its content – bold enough to stand out, simple enough to run solo, sophisticated enough to thrive in an ever-competitive cultural space. We’ve created a design that feels both modern and meaningful, that matches the quality of our conversations and has the flexibility to grow with us as we move into new platforms and formats. It’s design that not only works but inspires.”
